Human Rights Festival: Poetry Festival (Day 1)

Spoken word is a powerful way of expression and tool to defend human rights. South Africa has seen an explosion of interest and participation in spoken word.

Poetry will be used to express or narrate difficult issues society is grappling with. Through this creative medium of expression we will be challenged to think and liberate minds and souls.

Citizens and established poets alike will get an opportunity to grab the microphone and deliver the spoken word in a way they understand in a speaker’s corner.

In the poetry fest we will pay homage to Bra K who used poetry as a form of activism.
